The SMM 2008 from 23 to 26 September 2008 will be the first trade fair to make full use of the New Hamburg Fair site with all eleven exhibition halls, seven of these completely new. That means that the exhibitors – more than 1,800 of them from 50 nations – will have a total of 85,000 square metres of hall space available, that is about 10,000 square metres more than at the previous SMM. Over 45,000 trade visitors from all over the world are expected at the 23rd shipbuilding, machinery & marine technology international trade fair hamburg.

Under the title "German Marine Equipment - advanced technology for worldwide shipping and shipbuilding", a special brochure has been published in June 2007. As a supplement to the international journal "Schiff & Hafen", it has been despatched worldwide in an edition of more than 6,000 units and, additionally, will be distributed on important international maritime fairs and exhibitions in 2007 and 2008.

In order to guide customers of the German marine equipment industry to find suitable partners, the CD-ROM lists more than 200 companies and thus presents the whole spectrum of the German marine equipment manufacturers.

The MARINE AND OFFSHORE EQUIPMENT INDUSTRIES, founded in 1973 and based in Hamburg, is a special division of non-profit organization German Engineering Federation (VDMA).
